What is a root canal?
In layman’s terms, a root canal procedure is the elimination of bacteria from an infected root by removing the inflamed or infected pulp, cleaning & disinfecting the inside of the tooth, and then finally sealing it back up with a biologically compatible material.

Why do you need a root canal?
Root canal procedures are typically needed for a cracked tooth, a deep cavity, or issues from a previous filling.
Common symptoms that could indicate you need a root canal:

What happens during a root canal?

How much does a root canal cost?
The cost varies depending on the complexity of the problem and which tooth is affected. Molars are more difficult to treat therefore usually increasing the cost. Most dental insurance policies provide some coverage for endodontic treatments.
Generally, endodontic treatment and restoration of the natural tooth are less expensive than the alternative of having the tooth extracted. An extracted tooth must be replaced with an implant or bridge to restore chewing function and prevent adjacent teeth from shifting. — aae.org

Does a root canal hurt?
